Valerie Faulkner – I have some availability for workshops and lectures. I focus on getting a staff excited about WHY we need to make changes to classroom instruction. Generally, I can invigorate a staff to see why an initiative that you are about to put in place (Common Core Standards, Math Talk, Structures of Equality, Hands-on Mathematics) is important and worth the effort. Feel free to contact me if you are interested in working with me and your teaching staff. Use this page to Contact me.
I have also worked closely with many teachers/consultants who I recommend highly. Here is a list of those consultants and how to contact them.
Julie Russo – Contact – Region – North Carolina and surrounding areas
Julie is looking for elementary schools that want to work intensively on changing instruction in the classroom by teaching math relationships through the Structures of Equality. Deeply connected to the goals of the Common Core Standards, this approach impacts Math Talk in the classroom and student ability to access and make sense of quantitative reading (‘math word problems’). Julie’s approach is a combination of Cognitively Guided Instruction and Singapore Bar Modeling and it will make a difference in your classroom and your school!
